Free in LA?????

A friend posted this link on her Facebook and I am now in love with it. I'm always looking for free things to do that are fun and in LA this can be quite daunting. But now you can check out Totally Free LA and find out all kinds of fun free things. Mark, the creator, lists all kinds of different events from free screenings to cloths swapping to my favorite, South Kitchen Fridays at Edison. On Fridays from 5-7pm Edison is giving free Tomato soup and cheese sandwiches with drinks specials for only 35 cents. Count me in!!

Check out the site for even more fun free things to do in LA!

21 Things you should NEVER buy new

Maybe the only post of value from Yahoo....

1. DVDs and CDs: Used DVDs and CDs will play like new if they were well taken care of. Even if you wind up with a scratched disc and you don't want to bother with a return, there are ways to remove the scratches and make the DVD or CD playable again.

2. Books: You can buy used books at significant discounts from online sellers and brick-and-mortar used book stores. The condition of the books may vary, but they usually range from good to like-new. And of course, check out your local library for free reading material.

How many times can you say "AHHHHHH."

Tegan and Sara are my favorite band. I was choosen to be part of the the studio audience for their DVD shoot this past November. The shoot was on my 31st birthday and I couldn't have spent it any other way. Total I spent almost 5 hours with 75 other huge T&S fans. I finally able to see them perform with only uber fans. It was suddenly ok to gush on about everything Tegan and Sara. Plus the girls were in very fantastic moods and joked with the audience. It was a very interactive show. Additionally they played songs I had never heard live before and all were remixed. It was amazing.

More Thoughts on Prop 8: Canadian Style

Yes, I have a semi-weird obsession with Tegan and Sara Quin and yes, I promised not to post on them so much, but the problem is they have a profound way of simply nailing it on the head. Below are each sisters blog from spinner.com on their feelings on Proposition 8. It's been over a week now since Prop 8 passed and still the hurt, anger, sadness, confusion are apparent in California but as each day does passes we become stronger, smarter, and as one community will overturn this legislation of hatred. Keep the faith and enjoy the excellent thoughts from Tegan and Sara.

Sara Quin:

Tanning WILL Kill You

am a pasty white girl. I never tan and by that I mean I can sit outside for weeks and really only turn one shade darker than when I started. And before that I'm going to resemble a lobster. As a teenager I thought this was the worst thing about myself. Ok maybe not the worst thing...at that time my curly frizzy hair won but I did thing I was horribly ugly cause I couldn't tan. Fast forward a few decades and I couldn't be happier that I spent those years hiding under towels and reapplying sunscreen SPF100 about 16 times a day. And I have NEVER ever been to a tanning bed.
